Terra Madre — Certified organic groceries

About

Supplying the local community since 1996.

A grocery counter laid with the week's shopping — produce, bread, eggs and cheese, jars of pasta and rice, and cleaning liquid at one edge.

A grocer, not a health-food shop

Fruit and veg, meat, bread, bulk wholefoods and the pantry staples that go with them — plus supplements, herbs, cosmetics and cleaning. Organic is the default here, not a special aisle.

What we sell

What's on the shelves

Fruit & veg

100% organic — fruit, vegetables, bunched herbs and salad greens, whatever's in season.

Meat

Organic steaks, chops, roasts and sausages from the counter.

Milk, cheese & yoghurt

Milk by the bottle, cheese cut from the wheel, yoghurt and butter.

Bread

Sourdough, rye and rolls — fresh in from the bakery every day.

Nuts & seeds

Almonds, cashews, pepitas, chia — scooped from the jar.

Dried herbs & tinctures

Loose dried herbs, blended to order by our in-store naturopath. Tinctures need a practitioner's prescription.

Supplements

Protein powders, probiotics, vitamins and minerals.

Cosmetics

Natural skincare, soap and bath.

Flowers & plants

Cut flowers, natives and potted herbs.

The bulk aisle at Terra Madre — a long wall of gravity dispensers filled with grains, flakes and cereals, price tags on every canister, with tubs of loose goods on the shelves below.

Sold by weight

Bulk, by weight

Serve yourself from the bins — we weigh it at the counter.

In store

Ask our naturopath

At both shops — general advice over the counter, no appointment, no charge.

A naturopath works in both shops. Ask at the counter for basic advice and a blend made up for you from the jars behind it.

A dispensing bench with a brass balance scale, a mortar and pestle, amber dropper bottles and loose dried herbs, with jars of herbs behind.
