What is a paleo diet?

Short for Paleolithic diet, the paleo diet is based on a stone-age or caveman diet which involves only eating foods that were accessible to early hunter-gatherers in the Paleolithic era. The diet mainly consists of unprocessed meat, fish, vegetables and fruit, while mainly excluding dairy, processed grains and any processed food and sugars.

What do you eat and not eat on a paleo diet?

While modern paleo diets vary from person to person, and some paleo diets are stricter than others, generally paleo diets typically have the following inclusions and exclusions:

What's the difference between paleo vs keto?

A keto or ketogenic diet is a high-fat, moderate-protein, low-carbohydrate diet. Unlike a paleo diet, keto diets focus on the macronutrient content of foods instead of the origin of foods. This means keto diets do not exclude processed foods and dairy.

Processed foods including dairy is permitted on a keto diet (cream cheese for example), although the high carbohydrate content of many processed ingredients (such as rice, pasta, grains, and bread) means that they are not suitable for a keto diet.
